Leave me for taking me up

Like yesterday, Bogor was raining all day. Fortunately, it was rather calm now. I gazed my reflection in the mirror. I was so excited for Abdee invited me to attend his friend’s party. It was nearly five o’clock, why didn’t he come yet? While I was waiting for him, I went on to read a teenlit novel, the fourth one I read this week.

After several pages I read, suddenly, I fell into a daydreaming. I imagine that Abdee would introduce me in front of his friends as his girl friend. Abdee and I have been being a friend since we were still in kindergarten. He lived next to my house. I played with him in most of my days. Unfortunately, we were separated in high school, but I didn’t deny that I had something special to him. I hoped, like in novels, that he felt the same way too and would tell it to me in a special way, surprising me.

‘Hey, Nadia. Nadia! Halloo…,’ he shook my shoulders. I stopped my imagination.

‘What are you thinking about, Nad?’ Abdee asked me.

‘Oh, no, nothing. Why are you late?’

‘I’m sorry. I have to do something at first. Now, are you ready?’

Then, I stood up to show him that I was ready.

‘Since an hour ago,’ I replied him.

He stared me up to down. I tied my hair in modern hair bun. I wore a long sweet yellow shirt inside a bright green and white vest. For balancing the long sweater vest, I wore the calm yellow legging with a pair of boot shoes. For sweeter them all, there were silver O earrings in my ears. With this performance, I thought he wouldn’t be shy to introduce me as his girlfriend.

Simply he laughed. ‘Why do you laugh at me?’ I wondered.

‘Nothing, I just think that you’re so beautiful today,’ he said. ‘Have I told you it’s just a barbeque dinner?’

Oh, goodness. I just realized that I was overdress. I took a bow as I was so shy.

‘Hey, it’s okay. You look so beautiful tonight,’ Abdee tried to entertain me. Then, he held my hand. ‘Let’s go now.’ I followed him.

Outside, ‘How we get there, Abdee?’ I wondered as there’s nothing in front of my house.

‘On foot, of course. It’s just several blocks from here. Come on, we will be late,’ he pulled me out.

Some minutes later, I began to be tired. It was six blocks from my house, but Abdee still walked fast.

‘Abdee…, where is it? I’m tired,’ Abdee began to leave out me.

‘Come on, Nadia. It isn’t far anymore, one block again.’

I stopped my step and took a deep breath. I looked around breaking of my tiredness. I was attracted to a bright flower. It was so beautiful since it was wet, I get closer to it.

‘Nad, Nadia! Come on. We’ve been late,’ Abdee said from the far away. In front of him, there’s a house which door was open. Someone got out and greeted Abdee.

I walked hurriedly to them. It’s a carelessness of me, suddenly, I tripped over and fell.

‘Arrgh…,’ I grumbled. The grasses were wet and miry. I woke up my self and felt so bad. I couldn’t go on my way to attend that party while Abdee had got into the house.

“Abdee….’Hopelessly, I walked home alone.

Her Photo

The sun had been shining so bright when suddenly Ipang found a photo several days ago. A special photo that was filling his dreams after he looked on it. He found it among a group of scrapheap in a housing garbage dump.

There was a girl, a beautiful girl, as the object in it. She was so pretty that could make Ipang think about her continuously and change him to be a daydreamer. Ipang acknowledged that he should not do it, because he realized that he was too poor for finding a spoon of rice, so how could he try to dream about a girl?

‘Excuse me, may I take your dumps?’ Ipang asked a woman who was sweeping on the terrace.

Looked at Ipang for a moment, the woman nodded and said, ‘Okey, wait a while.’ Listened it, Ipang sat on the pavement near the gate.

It is the fifth housing I visited this month. Where is she? Why can’t I find her?

Then Ipang took out a photo from his pocket and cleaned it with his hands carefully. Few seconds looked at it, he smiled. You make me always think about you. I really want to find who you are. I promise, I’ll find you wherever you are.

‘Here you are,’ the woman’s voice broke out his day dreaming. Ipang received the rag bag. After it, Ipang continued his trip door to door while kept seeing around.

‘She must be a princess in her house, in her palace. She’s elegant, kind, generous, and the most important of all, she’s really beautiful,’ Ipang talking to himself. He continued his imagination, ‘What is she doing, now? Is she watering her flowers in the garden? Or… she’s reading neatly on her terrace now. Oh, maybe she’s trying to cook various kind of food in her kitchen. Oh, my gosh… everything she does is beautiful for me.’ Ipang continued mumbling while walking along the road side.

Ipang was thinking about that girl in each activity, before going to work, before sleeping, after working and every time he could take a breath. That girl, a girl who was never absent in Ipang’s dream, had beautiful eyes, straight and long hair, bright skin and most of all, she had a very awesome smile on her photo. Ipang felt that he was falling in love with her just by looking at her photo. Although at the beginning Ipang was unconfidence, now he realized that he would regret along his life if he did not try to meet her once. She was his first love. He promised himself, that the craziest thing he did in his life must be telling that girl that he really admired her. He didn’t care how much brave he need to do that.

It was two months after Ipang found the photo when suddenly, Ipang looked the same girl in that photo was in a car. Waiting a traffic light, she opened the car window to give some coins to a beggar. Hurriedly, Ipang ran over her, but it was late. The light turned green and she was gone. The next day, at the same time, Ipang sat on bus stop near the traffic light. He was sure that she would pass this way again. Ipang has been waiting there for hours but there’s nothing. It was just the fifth day when he looked the same car brought his girl. Ipang followed that car by running as fast as he could. Till finally, the car lost on his sight by turning right into an elegant residence.

‘Hff.., blamey, she’s a rich. I’d have guessed it before,’ Ipang said to himself while settling his up-down breath. After feeling better, ipang started to find the girl’s house. Still with his rag bag, Ipang observed each house. Ipang scratch off the trash in the house dump.

‘Does she want to meet me? She’s a prince while I am a poor, how can he give me a welcome? Maybe just look at me can make her nauseous.’ Ipang blamed himself on and on.

‘Laura, you have to eat now. It is lunch time,’ a woman said to a girl in the garden.

That’s the girl, Ipang’s heart said. Ipang kept a deep watch on her.

Days after it, Ipang was watching Laura’s activity at home furtively. Although he’s just a dustman, he won’t give in. Slowly, Ipang tried to talk to her. In fact, Laura didn’t refuse to talk much with him, and it really made Ipang glad.

Saturday evening, encouraging himself, Ipang was ready to meet the beloved girl he admired and stated his feeling about her. Ipang brought some flowers he picked in the city garden. He didn’t forget to bring the photo, too.

‘Laura, Laura, what a beautiful name it is for a beautiful girl like you,’ Ipang smiled alone along the way. His steps were so light as he certainly knew what would he do later.

What he’d supposed was exactly happened. In that time, Laura was watering her flowers in front of her house. Looking his arrival, Laura stopped her activity and ran to the fence excitedly.

‘Hi, Laura. How do you do? This is for you,’ Ipang gave the flowers.

Laura jumped happily. ‘Thank, thank, thank you..’

‘You’re welcome,’ Ipang answered.

‘Laura, there’s something you’ve got to know. It’s about my feeling toward you. I…,’

CRAPP!!! Suddenly, Laura whipped flowers in her hand against Ipang.

‘Hwehehehe, you look soo fool…,’ then Laura jumped around by laughing away.

Ipang just smiled and said, ‘…I love you.’

‘… anyhow you are, Laura.’

it's about you

My life was fine

Before you came,

Everything went in its own way

Before you came,

And my dream was beautiful

Before you came.

You never told me why you did this

You never explained to me what did you do

You just come to my life,

My dreams,

And my thought

It seems not so easy right now,

Since you distract me

You make me wait for so long

Too long for me if I count it by my sense

You force me to have you in my life,

My dreams,

And my thought

At the moment,

My life is better

While I’m waiting for you,

Everything goes brighter

While I ‘m thinking of you,

My dreams are wonderful

When I’m having you in it

A Cup of Tea, Please

‘Oh, God, it’s so hot,’ I talked to myself while walking out of the class. The bright sunshine greeted me in the yard. It looked like all people in this world were exhausted and melting. I walked through the school gate slowly and wished that there would be an iceman who was waiting for being bought by me.

Huff..., ok, it’s a small canteen not far from my position now, but, looked at it. I couldn’t even see the man, it’s just surrounded by a lot of boys. There was a doubt in myself, should I stop and battle for a glass of ice tea or should I go on my way home. I beat the devil’s tattoo for a minute, and then... all right, I think.. it would be better if..I decided to stop and battle for a glass of tea because I couldn’t fight my dry throat, so, here I came.

‘One ice tea!! One ice tea for me, sir!’ I shouted. Then I tried to put my hand out and thrusted a thousand rupiahs forward. Ugh, in fact, it was not so easy as I think. I was trapped and almost out of breath. I tried to find another way. Then, I pull out my body and slipped into the backpart. I saw that there were two woman in the back room. One of them was making many kinds of instant drinks and the other one was helping her.

‘Hemm.., they’re so busy that if I take a glass of drink being made by them, they won’t realize it,’ I mumbled to my self. Slowly, I got closer and put out my hand trying to catch a glass of drink. ‘Ok..., here it is...’

Hup, someone hold my hand. ‘A pettyfogging girl, eah?’

* * *

‘Hey, why do you pull out my hand?’ I cried. He’s alien to me but now he kept me away from the shop.

‘Stay here, don’t try to do such you’ve just done, okey? You may not come into that shop anymore, or I will tell it to the others that you’ve just tried to steal something, do you get it?’ he said after we got out from the crowded.

‘What?? I’m stealing? You must be crazy, I don’t want to steal anything, I just wanna have something to drink,’ I said angrily.

‘By taking it furtively?’

‘I...,’ I couldn’t continue my words. In this case, he’s right.

‘Now, you have to give me a hand,’ he said.

‘What?’

‘Go back to your school and find Marrieana. Tell her that I was waiting for her here.’

‘Who are YOU?’ I hoped he realized what I was stressed in my word. I didn’t know him, suddenly he reigned over me as if he were my boss.

‘It doesn’t matter who I am. Just go back, and tell her I’m here.’

‘Hey, it matters for me, since you suddenly reigned over me, huh?’ I pointed my finger to him.

‘Ok, ok, I’m asking your help now, and for the reward, I’ll buy a glass of ice tea for you, Ok?’

‘…or, if you don’t want to do it, I’ll say to the shopkeeper what just you do,’ he continued.

‘What? Have you threaten me?’

He shrugged his shoulders, and said, ‘it’s up to you.’

Finally, I stepped back to my school and reluctantly went upstairs to my class for finding Marriena.

‘Where is she?’ I asked myself when I’d got into my class. There’s nobody there. I asked two students sitting on the stairs.

‘Did you see Marriena? I think she was still in the class when I went some minutes ago.’

‘Oh, yeah, I saw she just went downstairs after having talked with a boy. It’s likely they are in park now,’ the girl replied.

‘Ok, thank’s.’ Rather quickly I went to the park. My goodness, the park lay on the back of building, it meant I have to turn around, whereas I was so thirsty. ‘You’ve got to pay a lot for this, freaky boy,’ I said slowly.

When I arrived in the park, it was late. Marriena had got into a car and they started to leave.

‘Hey, wait!’ I screamed. But they didn’t hear it. In a pinch, I’d got to chase them. Fortunately they stopped in the gate. Out of breath, I got closer slowly.

‘Both of you…,’ I didn’t continue my grumbling when I saw someone stood arrogantly in front of the car.

It was the freaky boy. ‘What’s he doing?’

The boy inside the car went out and told something to him. They were in a little conversation when, suddenly, the freaky boy hit the other boy.

‘Hey!’ I ran over them to separate them.

‘Guys, don’t fight here. Please, stop it,’ I begged, but it’s worthless. The boy strake back. They were blowing each other.

Marriena got out from the car. ‘Stop! I said, STOP IT!’ she cried.

It’s worked, they stopped to fight.

‘Sam, please forgive me, but I’ve got told you that I don’t love you. Never. I really am sorry but yesterday you’re just being my compensation. I still love him, Sam. Please, understand me.’

After it, Marriena came back into the car, and so did the boy. They went away.

The boy called Sam sat under the tree. He looked so disappointed and bow over his head.

Carefully, I got near him. ‘Are you okay…, Sam?’ I tried to touch his shoulder. There’s no reaction, so, I sat next to him. I just could tell myself that it was a strange day. A bright day when I felt exhausted. Honestly, I really want to drink as today was so tiring for me, but I couldn’t leave a broken boy alone. If I were him, I would be worse in lonely. I’d ever felt it.

We were in silence as there’s no word for some minutes later. Then, there were some spots of water.

‘It’s raining,’ unrealizing I said. ‘ It is strange for raining since today is so hot, isn’t it?’

I supposed that he wouldn’t answer me. ‘Why are you here?’ he asked without facing me. I was wrong. Finally, I could hear his voice again.

‘E…, because…,’ I hesitated to answer.

The rain was getting heavy. Sam was still on his place and so was I.

Some minutes later, he got up and pulled my hand. We went to the canteen where we first met. There, Sam told me a lot. His heart was actually hurt by a girl whom he loved. In fact, she just used him as a comforter.

‘Now, you may call me a loser,’ he said at the end of his story.

‘I won’t. A normal person must have done some mistakes in his life. You are a normal person, aren’t you? So, you are permitted to do any fault.’

He smiled hearing what I said.

‘Thanks,’ he said.

‘For what? I didn’t do anything.’

‘Thanks for not leaving me alone.’

‘…’

‘Why didn’t you leave me?’

‘Because I… I just, I just wanna a cup of tea.’

Then we laughed together.
